The engine of ThePopulus - Forum3.0

My Pride and Joy

This technology will improve human communications, save so many relationships from misintepretation-disasters, organize human intelligence, in a way unforseen unimaginable and imperceptible.

(to be released)
ThePopulus enters the marketplace with a proprietary, and unprecedented smart technology built into its forum discussion boards.

ThePopulus is founded by Kien M Lee, the former a banker/strategy advisor who found the perfect excuse to finally go to Italy, his “Mecca of football” and work with Giovanni D’Errico, “my Italian enabler, collaborator, partner and all-in-all a technology grandmaster”, as Kien says, “guru is just… inadequate!”

ThePopulus believes forum discussion boards play an integral role in collective human interactions on the Web. Even though such “town squares” exist in most Internet websites, not much attention has been paid to the technology on these venues, even though so much human communication and miscommunication, intelligence sharing, opinionated debates etc., takes place at these locales.

To enhance and more accurately capture and reflect human communication, ThePopulus’ forum technology will do the following:

  • Intelligently process and suggest the appropriate categories each thread should belong to, and in doing so, allow a thread submission to exist across different topical considerations, while avoiding the problem of incorrect or duplicate submissions

    • Make cross-references across various threads and posts

  • Become a discussion forum that truly embraces Web 2.0

    1. Community ratings: A yay or nay approach

    2. User regulated community: Community flagging will and should drive the regulation of the forum. Webmasters will be present but ideally should never need to intervene.

    3. Intent/Mood indicators: Postings will all contain a “mood indicator”, which include only the 7 basic human expressions/emotions. This is contrary to trends in emoticon development, but ThePopulus believes its entirely adequate and accurate in revealing a user’s or an author’s sentiment/mood/intention

      • Through these 7 mood indicators, for example, a “tongue in cheek” post will be clearly so, as is a somber one that should and would be taken seriously by other users

      • This allows a clearer, more uncomplicated approach to the human challenge of communicating without physical, facial or vocal/tonal indicators

    1. Meta tagging: Allows users to assist in classifying information so that intelligence can be shared more efficiently as well as stored/organized and disseminated more efficiently

  • Per best traditions of Web 2.0, the more and the more accurately users tag information, the more we can elegantly share knowledge

  • Private tagging: However, ThePopulus is also giving users the ability to tag, file and assimilate information just for themselves

  • We want to be the forum/venue at which technology is deployed to assist the human brain, freeing capacity away from the mundane tasks of multiple logins, stored file locations and where-did-I-see-this to the more interesting issues like who-should-I-share this with and what-next?”

    1. Conversation tracker: Users can indicate clearly to whom their writing is in response to, and as well as link to and from postings from other threads

    2. Accreditation/ Points system: It is not just how much a user posts or how long a user has had her membership, but also by the incorporation of how much value others have placed on the former’s contributions.

Kien M Lee “I believe that through methods, technological as well as soft/social, we have sought to iron out the kinks inherent in online communications, especially in forum discussion boards – Our effort represents the best efforts at tackling this problem out there. I believe this will set people free,… to really share ideas, exchange information and reach out to each other in an unprecedented way!”
